I still intend to make my journey to Japan as light as possible.
Only when I get there, I want to hit the local Daiso and purchase the items I know I need from there. I can only figure that what I see on the shelves here in Australia will be replicated in Japan.
My plan is to stick to hostels and the like, preparing my own meals and not relying on more touristy-style comforts. Thoughts?
Yes, many of these items are available at the Daiso or other 100 yen shops pretty much everywhere, so you can definitely pack light and get sorted on arrival. Making your own meals at hostels works well if they have a well-equipped kitchen. Also, look out for the amazing discounts to be had on bento boxes at supermarkets after around 6PM. You can save a fortune!
Andrew. Thanks for those tips.
