Hey Andrew, you are a wealth of knowledge and I am forever looking for more tips. I'm struggling to sigh up for EX shinkansen website as declined all 3 of my cards. So what to use next for travel? It seems klook is not allowing reservations on chosen seats but instead allocates either window or isle so how do I know the 2 tickets I want are together or apart etc. main thing is, is there another website that is easy to navigate?

Nice account. I wonder which one of Rebun or Rishiri are more hiking walking friendly as I don’t use other transport than my feet.
Rebun is the hiking island - Rishiri is good if you want to climb the volcano, or cycle around the edge of the island.

You might have better luck with the JR West booking system. You can select seats there.
